Last week the Miga team continued our speaking series on “navigating the storm” facing the healthcare industry at the Minnesota Chapter of the Association for Healthcare and Materials Management (MCAHRMM) conference.
Miga CEO Peter Robson addressed the audience of supply chain professionals with a message of empowerment. Despite the “storminess” and uncertainty surrounding healthcare reimbursements, supply chain leaders can make meaningful changes that reduce healthcare equipment spend and help their hospitals navigate toward dry land.
Here are three practical strategies from our session:
Learn a new language.
Sometimes supply chain professionals feel like they’re speaking a different language than other departments at the hospital. Get on the same page by using a common vocabulary based on revenue and costs.
Plan for contingencies.
Supply chain groups are being asked to do more with less to cope with change and uncertainty. Be proactive in helping your hospital build contingencies into your plans.
Communicate results.
Don’t be shy about communicating the results of the work you do. You’re doing important work that has many benefits for your hospital.
