As 2019 comes to an end, suppliers may offer time-sensitive, year-end promotions as incentives for hospitals to complete purchases of new clinical and IT equipment. Given that many hospitals manage capital budgets annually, they often need to wait until January to complete planned purchases, and miss out on savings they could get, if they made the purchase now. This doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of these savings!
Tell equipment suppliers you will commit to the purchase now if they protect and/or lock in promotional pricing, and you will issue final purchase orders or payment after the first of the year.
Suppliers benefit by getting the sale commitment, and your hospital benefits from the additional savings. Don’t neglect to lock in savings now, pay later, and set the stage for continued savings success in the new year.
