This is to make you aware of a recent FDA announcement of a voluntary recall of sterile water and saline for irrigation produced by Nurse Assist, LLC. Products included in the Nurse Assist recall are a range of bottled solutions and pre-filled syringes from the following suppliers: Cardinal, Covidien, Halyard Owens Minor, Idexx, Mac Medical, McKesson, Medichoice Owens Minor, Medline, Nurse Assist, Stericare, SOL, Trudell, and Vyaire. - Users of these products should halt use and contact their distributor, or Nurse Assist for return and replacement information. Be aware that recalled products may be included as part of a kit.

- Report any problems with saline and sterile water medical products by Nurse Assist to the FDA.
If your hospital is being impacted by the recall, in addition to contacting your distributor or Nurse Assist, it may be prudent to accelerate procurement of non-recalled products to offset the shortage due to the recall. It is not certain how long the recall is expected to impact availability of sterile solutions.
