Hospitals typically save the most money when they negotiate the purchase price of medical equipment and the annual service contract price (and terms) separately. This way you know what you are paying for each.
However, certain manufacturers offer one-time discounts or “preferred pricing” that you can only get when you’re purchasing new equipment. Make sure to ask your supplier if there are any point-of-sale discounts or incentives if you intend to buy a service contract. If there is, go for it and save more on the service you would be paying for anyway.
